Piedmont Communities Spay Neuter And Wellness Clinic

I drove an hour to this clinic to have my 4-month-old cat receive his vaccinations. Unfortunately, after arriving, the doctor, Jeffrey Courville, refused to administer the vaccines, despite the clinic having all of the necessary equipment. I understand that animals can sometimes be difficult or nervous during veterinary visits, and I respect a veterinarian’s decision if they genuinely feel they cannot safely treat an animal. However, the comments made during the visit were extremely concerning and, in my opinion, unnecessary and unprofessional. Dr. Courville described my 4-month-old kitten as “too aggressive” and stated that if the cat jumped at him, he would “knock him across the room.” He also said that if my cat were brought into a shelter, he “would deem him unadoptable.” As the owner, I found those comments very upsetting and inappropriate. There was no reason to make statements like that to a client, especially about a 4-month-old kitten who was clearly scared and in an unfamiliar environment. I would have preferred a professional explanation of why the vaccinations could not be administered and, if necessary, a recommendation for another clinic that could safely handle him. Instead, I left feeling judged and uncomfortable about the way my pet and I were treated. I hope the clinic takes this feedback seriously because professionalism and communication are just as important as the medical care being provided.
